Competencies & Learning Resources - Leadership

The Leadership area requires studies of group processes that develop leadership techniques for working with teachers, students, administrators, parent groups, and the community.

Rationale: As a leader you must be a spokesperson, model, coach, and policy maker for the school's technology plan. The leadership role of a technology coordinator is a proactive one. You are responsible for turning the technology plan into a vision that empowers teachers to adopt technology that is appropriate for their class. The leadership you provide is like that of a lighthouse safely guiding sailing students and teachers past any technological hazards, rather than a lifeguard rescuing Internet surfers who have crashed on the information super highway.

Note: While all of the competencies listed for this area are addressed in INSYS 462 and are combined into one comprehensive paper, you must link your paper in several different places within your portfolio. It is important to follow the directions on each and every competency "Learning Resource Page". The directions are listed under "Your Portfolio" and will help you to correctly display the paper in your portfolio and in the multiple places required.
