Competencies & Learning Resources - In-service Programs

The In-service Programs area requires studies in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating technological in-service programs.

Rationale: The real challenge faced by technology specialists is not the installation or upkeep of the technology itself, although it is a daunting task, but the adoption of the appropriate learning processes that technology makes available to the educator and student. Supporting educators in their progress from a basic understanding of technology to using technology as a tool in improving their students' learning, is where a technology coordinator can make the most difference in a student's and teacher's life. It can be said that you are responsible for teaching the teachers how to use technology to its best advantage in their classroom. Without successful inservice programs, the money spent on technology will have been wasted.

Note: While all of the competencies listed for this area are addressed in INSYS 462, directions for displaying each product in your portfolio are located on each competency's "Learning Resource Page".
