1.22 Evaluate Technological Solutions. Work with other educators to: identify a need, identify measurable outcomes that the solution is to achieve, develop a technology-based solution, gather data based on the identified outcomes, and determine the effectiveness of the solution.

Introduction

Gathering information related to educator needs is important. However, what you as a Technology Coordinator do with this information is the key. Synthesizing needs into measurable outcomes followed by using the outcomes as benchmarks against a proposed solution are part of the process. In order to complete the cycle, a test of the effectiveness of the proposed solution is necessary in order to determine if further action is needed or another solution needs to be generated.

Your Job:

  1. Use the details provided below to create a product that addresses and demonstrates mastery of this competency.
  2. Use the stepwise process listed under Your Portfolio to display the completed product in your ITSC portfolio.

    Product Details:

    • Create a product in INSYS 461 that demonstrates your understanding of Evaluating Technological Solutions.
    • Work with other educators to:
      • identify a need,
      • identify measurable outcomes that the solution is to achieve,
      • develop a technology-based solution,
      • gather data based on the identified outcomes, and
      • determine the effectiveness of the solution.
    • Describe the group of educators that you worked with.
    • Detail how the need was identified and how agreement was reached..
    • List ALL related outcomes that a solution is to achieve. (This is not a goal, these are to be the specific outcomes/objectives that detail exactly what people will know and be able to do with what they know.)
    • Based on the need and the list of objectives, develop and detail a technology based solution.
    • Discuss a data collection process that is aligned with the measurable outcomes or objectives.
    • Detail how you will evaluate the data collected in order to determine if in fact the solution was effective.
