Introduction

There are a group of teachers who have developed an excellent curriculum for the Underground Railroad. In fact, they already have many digital resources, and with a little work you think they could create a multimedia learning module that other teachers could use. Before you propose this idea to them, you first need to do some research on multimedia software applications. What is the best authoring environment for teachers? Which applications can we afford? You know that if you show the teachers that this idea is realistic, they will agree to take on the extra work. Knowing how to use multimedia production software allows you to develop learning experiences with a high level of user interaction. Teachers can use multimedia production software, like web editors, which with its low cost and simple but powerful authoring environment, gives the teacher the ability to develop computer-aided instruction (CAI) tailored to the needs of their students. As a technology coordinator, you have the ability to design CAI for your audience. If done right, this CAI can be motivating, engaging and effective.
