Introduction

Your administrators, teachers, and students will want to publish images on-line. In turn, you must develop teaching materials, which instruct your network users, how to publish the highest quality images on the Internet. Knowing when and why it is better to save an image as a "GIF' or a "JPEG" is a critical part of creating professional Web pages.

Your Job:

  1. Use the details provided below to create a product that addresses and demonstrates mastery of this competency.
  2. Use the stepwise process listed under Your Portfolio to display the completed product in your ITSC portfolio.

    Product Details:

    • Your audience for this product is those new to technology and your product should answer the following questions:
      • What are gifs and jpegs?
      • Why are gifs and jpegs important?
      • How are gifs and jpegs alike?
      • How do gifs and jpegs differ?
      • When to store images in "gif" vs. "jpeg" format? and
      • What is transparency?
    • Include images that serve as examples to help demonstrate what happens when an inappropriate format is selected.
    • Consier combining this competency with 1.10 - Presentation Software.
